Character Portrayals
You will find a short description of our troupe's characters written below. Might I add that you will not find more talented, energetic, knowledgeable and caring young people. They love learning, studying history and they enjoy sharing their knowledge with others. Each young person maintains honor status in their grades, and they exemplify outstanding characteristics that every young citizen should strive for. Our members include multi-talented young people who excel in the areas of student government, (including class presidents and student council officers), vocal and instrumental, and athletic abilities. They are a credit to their families, their schools and their communities. If they are an example of tomorrow's quality leaders, (and I truly believe that they are), then I rest in total confidence that we're in good hands. I am honored to be associated with them and count myself fortunate to walk this earthly path with them.

Jordyn, draws from her research into the life of Clarissa Harlowe 'Clara' Barton, and does an excellent portrayal of this pioneer American teacher, nurse and humanitarian.

Parker, has researched John Lincoln Clem, the Drummer Boy of Shiloh. He has become very familiar with his characterization of this last man on active duty that had fought in the Civil War.

Konnor, presents a strong impression of his character Robert E. Lee. He relates the high points of Lee's career and divulges some important historic events in Lee's life.

Molly, treats us to the reality of Southern pride when she portrays Varina Howell Davis, the second wife of the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. She, along with others in our troupe, will gladly teach anyone some of the dances that were popular at that time. Molly is also a gifted and talented vocalist.

Nancy, is the Mistress of Civil War Period Dress for MT. She is an excellent resource and is happy to speak to groups on this subject.

Luke, brings to light many interesting facts about his great, great grandfather, Major DeWitt C. Hillhouse.

Elizabeth, reenacts Rose O'Neil Greenhow a well-known Rebel spy. She was captured and imprisoned by Union forces. Her exploits of daring and intrigue ended when she fell out of a lifeboat and drowned.

John, refreshes our memories of Union Col. Joshua L. Chamberlain, the 'Lion of Round Top'.

Jericho, enacts Robert Edward Lee who became the troop commander of the Confederacy. A proud Virginian, married to Mary Ann and fathering seven children, he surrendered his forces to the Northern forces commander, Ulysses Grant on April 9, 1865 and passed on October 12, 1870.

Alex, is Thomas Harbin, a Confederate spy who worked in Washington, DC. He actually developed the spy network, known as the Red Line, in and around Washington. Harbin was rumored to be acquainted with the infamous John Wilkes Booth.

Zach, portrays a drummer boy for the 50th Illinois. This regiment was also known as the Blind Half Hundred. Although this is a fictional character, Zach makes him"live" for his listeners.

John, takes great strides to make John Brown an interesting presentation to his audience.

Grace, re-enacts Ann Elizabeth James, who as a young girl, assumed the persona of a drummer boy during the Great Conflict. Ann is strong and perseveres through many of the challenges that she faced. Grace also adds to her presentation by sharing with her audiences about the drum and she demonstrates some drum calls.

Allison, brings the famous authoress, Louisa Mae Alcott, to life. She tells us what her life was like at this time. For one so young, she is extremely articulate about her character.

Jacob, although one of our younger presenters, has thoroughly studied General Armistead of the Confederacy and makes his character come to life for his audience.

Amanda, is one of our foremost authorities of 1860's period dress and etiquette. She is willing to speak to groups on these subjects. She portrays a Civil War ancestor named Genevive.

Chris, shares with his audiences his (Confederate) great-great-great grandfather, Wesley Grigsby. Chris has many of Private Grigsby's character traits, including his strength of purpose as he tells how this relative enlisted at an early age and served with distinction at many battles, including Shiloh and Chickamauga.

Nathaniel, enjoys all aspects of studying the U.S. Civil War. He has studied General Robert E. Lee and makes his life interesting to his listeners.
